OMK have designed a number of new dwellings incorporating the use of Porotherm clay blocks.  They are a multi cellular walling system of high compressive strength (10N/mm2) and come in three thicknesses; 100mm, 140mm and 190mm.  They can be laid quickly as there are no requirements for mortar in vertical joints and the bed joints are modern thin joints of around 1mm thickness.  Wall panels can be laid in 20m lengths without requiring movement joints as there is practically no moisture shrinkage.

There are numerous benefits of this system.   It uses around 95% less water than traditional blockwork, is lightweight for easier handling/laying, thermally/acoustically efficient and has outstanding fire resistance. It is a sustainable product with 30% of materials coming from alternative, recycled or secondary sources, has a life expectancy of over 150 years and is fully recyclable at end-of-life.
