The existing modest bungalow on the site has been demolished to make way for a new large detached replacement dwelling. The site had to be piled due to the highly shrinkable clay ground and the impact from numerous mature trees to the boundary and trees removed from beneath the footprint of the new dwelling. Although augered non-displacement piles would be typically used, the piling contractor has preferred to use driven steel piles.
